Relaxation 101
Sometimes you can feel overstressed, overworked or at your wit's end...we all do.
At these times, a few stress-busting techniques can help you clear your mind and
finish the task at hand. Below are some tips to release negative energy and focus
on positive progress, whether you are at work or at home.
Tips to a Less Stressful Lifestyle
1.) Have a set bedtime every night. Getting an adequate amount of rest
contributes to your mood more than you may realize. Even if you cannot fall asleep
right away, make it a point to be in bed at your set time.
2.) Make sure you are eating a well-balanced diet. Eating breakfast helps you get
your day off with the nutrients you need to think clearly the rest of the day. Make it a
point to pack yourself a healthy snack for during
the day, or consider breakfast bars or pretzels
rather than that mid-day candy bar from the
vending machine. Opt for the healthy
alternatives at fast food restaurants if you are
on the go instead of burgers and fries. Not only
will health-conscious food choices keep you
satiated through the day, they will keep your
body looking great.
3.) Make quiet time for yourself. While this may be one of the more difficult
practices to make habit when you are busy with work and family, it is very important.
Whether it is at home or at a quiet place at work, dedicate at least 5-15 minutes to
relaxation. Go to a quiet place, close your eyes and concentrate on slowing down
your breathing. Turn off the TV and radio or even go outside for a short walk. Enjoy
those few minutes of peace and quiet. It will rejuvenate you for the rest of your day,
or get you relaxed enough for a peaceful night's sleep.
